Community College and Transfer

I Wish Someone Had Told Me This Before I Signed for $48,000 in Loans.

When I graduated high school, I was determined to go straight to a big university like everyone else. My parents were ready to take out loans to make it happen.

Thankfully, my older cousin sat me down and showed me the numbers. He convinced me to do two years at community college first, then transfer.

I was skeptical at first — I thought it would look bad on my resume. But I listened. I saved over $45,000 in the first two years alone. I worked part-time, lived at home, and transferred to a well-respected state university with almost all my credits accepted.

I graduated last May with a degree in Biology and only $9,200 in student loans — which I paid off within 11 months of graduating.

If I had gone straight to the university, I would have easily had $110,000+ in debt. The community college route gave me the same degree with almost no debt and zero regrets.
